Are You Working Too Hard For Your Payroll?

by Paul Marrero 23. March 2011 09:30

If your organization is using Sage Abra HRMS and Payroll along with BST Enterprise for your project management and accounting, it may be a chore to keep BST Enterprise up to date with the most current employee information. By the same token, all the time entered into BST Enterprise on projects must be paid. More so with time worked by hourly employees.

Before employees can track their time in BST Enterprise, an employee record must be created. Think about entering employee data into your HRMS system, printing out a report then re-keying that data into BST. OK, I would admit, one or two a month isn’t too bad. But how do you know if the data is accurate? Do you have a process for that? Now, what if you need to enter 30, or 40, or more every month? The job now becomes burdensome at best. Mistakes will happen.

If you use a product like Abra2BST, you know how easy it is to import your employee data into BST. The data resides in Abra HRMS and is entered only once. The new employee is imported into BST with the same information as your HRMS.

Now for the fun stuff, payroll. You can export your pay data from BST and, using Abra2BST, import that time into Abra’s payroll table. From time to time, you may need to make timesheet adjustments in Abra for one reason or another.  If you find yourself working too hard to make changes in Abra, perhaps we may need to tweak your Abra2BST settings. The same goes for importing employee data. And, if there is something in your payroll process Abra2BST cannot handle out of the box, a custom solution might just do the trick. Contact Dresser & Associates or CAASPRE Consulting to see if your Abra2BST settings are optimal. It might just save you a bunch of time; and time is money.
